Lead the technical evolution of a global Kiwi success story. As Principal Engineer, you'll drive architecture, mentor talent, & scale world-class tech
Why You’d Like It
This is a rare chance to step into a high-visibility, "hands-on" leadership role where your technical voice actually carries weight. You’ll be joining a sophisticated engineering environment that balances the grit of IoT and hardware with the scale of a global SaaS platform. If you’re a technical purist who still loves to get deep into the code but wants to influence the architectural roadmap of a "high growth" global player, this is your seat at the table.
The Story
The business is currently in a major "high growth" phase, evolving its global platform to ensure it remains scalable, reliable, and secure for a demanding international market. To support this, they are expanding their elite Principal Engineering practice. This isn't about maintaining the status quo; it’s about future-proofing a complex ecosystem, researching emerging tech, and leading proof-of-concepts that will define the next decade of their technical strategy.
Company Profile
This is a home-grown Kiwi success story that has made a serious name for itself on the global stage. Operating within the Product, Design, and Engineering space, they focus on smart, innovative tech solutions that solve complex problems. The culture is innovative, energetic, inclusive, and built on the idea that good ideas can come from anywhere.
Your Role
As a Principal Engineer, you will be a technical North Star for the engineering organisation, working closely with the Chapter Lead and Platform Architects.
The ideal candidate is someone who can "get deep" into the technical weeds while maintaining a strategic view of the entire system.

- System Reliability: Lead efforts to improve performance and observability, including monitoring and alerting solutions.
- Mentorship: Provide high-level guidance to senior engineers and squad leads to grow internal technical capability.
- Incident Support: Offer critical guidance during production incidents and lead sustainable root-cause retrospectives.
- Competitive Salary: A package between $180k - $200k per annum.

- Soft Skills: A "leadership without authority" style—you influence through expertise, humility, and clear communication rather than just a job title.
- Resilience: A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to navigate the ambiguity of a rapidly scaling business.
