We are working with a major organisation currently navigating a massive transformation programme. They are in the process of replacing core systems and decoupling from a parent entity to bring everything in-house. They are a few years into this journey and need a specialist to help migrate data and set the infrastructure up for success. This is a critical 6-month engagement, with high likelihood of extension, to get them through a significant phase of their evolution.

While they are an established player, the current vibe is very much about modernisation, moving away from legacy constraints, and adopting a cloud-native stance.
Your Role
You will be the bridge between high-level strategy and engineering reality, translating business requirements into feasible, secure designs.
We aren't looking for a pure infrastructure architect or a pure data architect, we need a hybrid who has deep experience in both. You need to be a veteran of large transformation programmes in complex environments. You must have pragmatic AWS expertise (Redshift, Glue, ECS) and the communication skills to negotiate with stakeholders and mentor engineers on the ground. If you know your way around Databricks or have framed early AI/ML approaches, that’s a massive bonus.

- Shape Cloud Solutions: You’ll set patterns and reference designs for AWS, focusing on Infrastructure-as-Code and guiding CI/CD initiatives.
- Evolve the Data Platform: You will design end-to-end data flows using Amazon Redshift, AWS Glue, and S3, ensuring cost and performance are optimised.
- Tackle Legacy Migration: You will define the pipeline architecture for replacing legacy Python batch processes.
- Drive Integration: You’ll help stand up API-led and event-driven integration capabilities, setting lightweight standards that let squads move fast.
- Coach and Unblock: A huge part of this gig is collaborating with engineers to land designs and de-risk non-functionals like security and resilience.
