Auckland Tech Lead : 70% C# coding , 30% leadership. Scale a SaaS platform in a high-growth team.
Why You’d Like It
This position offers a rare balance for a senior engineer who wants to step into leadership without losing touch with the code. It is a chance to influence the technical direction of a high-growth SaaS platform while remaining hands-on with modern, cloud-native technologies. The role provides the autonomy to advocate for engineering excellence and the latest toolsets in a culture that genuinely values quality over shortcuts.

The Story
The organisation is currently in a "high growth" phase, necessitating an expansion of its technical leadership. The team needs a Lead who can bridge the gap between complex architecture and daily delivery, ensuring that as the platform scales, the engineering standards remain world class. This hire is about more than just keeping the lights on; it is about driving a technical roadmap that addresses technical debt while delivering innovative value to a global customer base.

Company Profile
Based in Auckland, this SaaS provider is a leader in its field, dedicated to using the latest development tools and methodologies. The environment is built on agile principles, where self managed teams collaborate to build high availability, cloud-native solutions. There is a strong emphasis on automation, continuous delivery, and a positive, motivated team culture that encourages peer reviews and constant learning.

The Role
  • Provide software engineering leadership to a team, inspiring excellence in design, implementation, and quality.

  • Balance responsibilities with approximately 60-70% hands-on development and 30-40% technical leadership and architecture.

  • Design and architect specific features within a complex SaaS application, ensuring they are scalable and efficient.

  • Develop and maintain the technical roadmap, advocating for both new features and the continual addressing of technical debt.

  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners and Delivery Leads to ensure the team meets its objectives and delivers high-quality value.

  • Research and recommend new cloud-native technologies, tool chains, and process improvements.

  • Drive a continuous delivery mindset, supporting the team in measuring performance through DORA metrics.
Your fit
  • Possesses strong proficiency in C# and relevant .NET software development frameworks.

  • Has extensive experience building and deploying cloud-native solutions on Azure.

  • Is skilled in designing and developing software using microservices architecture and event-driven principles.

  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of software design patterns, Domain Driven Design (DDD), and non-functional requirements like security and scalability.

  • Is experienced with automated testing (unit, component, and integration) and modern branching strategies such as trunk-based development.

  • Has hands-on experience with containerisation and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Is familiar with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and modern front-end concepts, particularly React.

  • Displays a "can-do" attitude, is a decisive collaborator, and acts as a self-starter within an agile environment.
