Your Role
This is a hybrid role, split roughly 50/50 between hands-on strategic work and people leadership. You will:
- Lead and mentor a specialist team of two Senior Data Excellence Analysts.
- Oversee the management of PII data, including its classification and access rights.
- Act as the subject matter expert for data quality, working closely with data engineering teams.
- Drive the successful implementation and adoption of data governance tools and capabilities across the business.
- Establish and manage frameworks for key data documentation, including the business glossary, data lineage, and ownership.
- Represent NZ data governance in group-wide forums and collaborate with privacy, risk, and technology stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
- Extensive, dedicated data governance experience.
- A proficient, practical understanding of data governance methodologies and frameworks.
- Proven experience leading, coaching, or mentoring a team would be beneficial but they are willing to develop this skill for the successful candidate.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working with large, complex datasets.
- Hands-on experience with data management tools (like Collibra or Ataccama) is beneficial.
