They’re looking for an experienced AI leader to come on board, create the roadmap, and drive the transformation across the entire organisation. This is a new opportunity born from the desire to innovate and use data to unlock new efficiencies in everything from underwriting and claims to the overall customer experience.

We’re working with a well-respected, white-label insurer that provides cover for customers of some of New Zealand’s biggest and most recognisable automotive and financial brands. They have a high-performing culture and are completely focused on delivering first-class service and providing peace of mind to their customers. Just as importantly, they foster a caring and supportive working environment where people’s wellbeing is a top priority.

Your Role
As the AI Manager, you will be the go-to expert for all things AI. You will be responsible for:
  • Developing the strategic AI roadmap, building the business cases, and then executing the plan.

  • Working closely with product, risk, and compliance teams to identify high-impact AI opportunities.
  • Overseeing the end-to-end process of building, deploying, and monitoring AI solutions in a cloud environment.
  • Championing ethical and responsible AI practices across the business.
  • Translating complex data insights into clear, actionable recommendations for the senior leadership team.
Benefits
On offer is a great package, including:
  • Competitive Salary
  • A strong performance bonus scheme.
  • Fully covered Southern Cross medical insurance.
  • A hybrid working model once you've found your feet.
Your Fit
You’re not just a data expert; you are a strategic AI leader who knows how to apply technology to solve real-world business problems. We are looking for someone with:
  • A proven track record of leading AI projects from concept through to successful implementation.
  • At least five years of experience in AI and Data Science, with a couple of those years ideally within the insurance or financial services industry.
  • A strategic mindset combined with the willingness to be hands-on in a small team environment.
  • Strong technical skills in Python, R, SQL, and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • A deep understanding of how to apply AI technologies like NLP, LLMs, and RAG to drive automation and efficiency.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence or a related field is preferred.
